Reyna Walters-Morgan has the experience and vision we need.

As your next Vice Chair for Civic Engagement and Voter Participation, Reyna will help the DNC reconnect with critical voters, fight back against Donald Trump’s voter suppression agenda, and dream bigger about the opportunities ahead of us.

We have real challenges ahead, and we don’t have the luxury of winging it.

Many Democrats are still reeling from the sobering election results and contemplating how to move forward. But as we inch closer to the end of the Biden Administration and the start of a second Trump Presidency, here is the hard truth: Democrats have a lot of work to do and we don’t have a lot of time to do it.

We already know the threats Donald Trump and the MAGA movement pose to free and fair elections. We continue to see how these efforts are manifest in states where Republican legislative majorities continue to pass voter suppression bills, spread disinformation, and subvert election processes. The one thing we know to be true about the incoming administration is that they intend to make good on their promises to limit voting access for eligible Americans.

As Democrats, it’s time to dream bigger about voter participation.

If we want to start winning again, it’s time to look toward the future with clear eyes and a real vision for change. Reyna has that vision, and with her as Vice Chair for Civic Engagement and Voter Participation, our party will be able to truly fulfill our mission of expanding our democracy and giving every American a seat at the table. This is why the Vice Chair for Civic Engagement and Voter Participation must be at the forefront of the upcoming battle: we require a Vice Chair who understands the responsibilities of this role, anticipates the challenges each state will face, and is ready to expand the department.

Innovation

In 2022, less than 2% of voters aged 18-24 called Democratic hotlines for information or assistance with voting—and they’re not the only group we’re failing with traditional methods. By leveraging social media and other new technologies, we can meet these and other voters where they are.

Infrastructure

We’ve learned again and again that Democrats win when we invest early. By continuing to engage volunteers and key partners year-round, we can continue year-round voter protection and advocacy. We can be a party that voters know, trust, and see fighting for them.

Engagement

The DNC should double down on educational and organizing opportunities so that members can exchange ideas, learn from each other, feel that their time is spent productively, and ensure that our Democratic Party is responsive to the needs of our states.

Reyna has the experience to succeed from day one.

Reyna Walters-Morgan is an attorney and the former Director of Civic Engagement and Voter Protection for the DNC. During her time at the DNC, she ran one of the largest voter protection programs in the history of the Democratic Party and transformed her department from a handful of lawyers who operated only around election day to one focused on comprehensive, year-round organizing. From her time campaigning for higher education funding as a student at the University of North Carolina to her time at the DNC, Reyna Walters-Morgan has spent a career putting in the work.

Now, Reyna is running for DNC Vice Chair for Civic Engagement and Voter Participation because she knows we need someone who has been on the front lines of voter protection in this role. Democrats have much to accomplish and vanishingly little time, and we need someone who can hit the ground running on day one with a track record of success and the vision and the time needed to lead. As Vice Chair for Civic Engagement and Voter Participation, Reyna is a fighter who can move the DNC forward and protect our democracy.

Don’t just take her word for it—Reyna’s experience has been making news for years.

Where Democrats are making news fighting for voting rights, you’ll often see Reyna Walters-Morgan’s name right alongside them.
